Assisteens 2024 – 2025

The Assisteens® calendar traditionally runs from August through May.  The meeting day of the week and times vary from year to year.
The Registration date for the new season of Assisteens for 2024-2025 will be announced shortly.  Registration is required and the $50 fee includes membership in National Assistance League.  Students may not attend meetings without being registered.

Assisteens meetings are held at the Assistance League of Flintridge Chapter House at 4607 Oakwood Avenue in La Cañada Flintridge.
We are next to the library and across the street from TJ Maxx.  All meetings take place in the Chapter Meeting Room (CMR), down the driveway to the left of the building and behind Bargain Box Thrift Shop.

After registration, a welcome email will be sent prior to this meeting date as a reminder. All important information is sent to both the Assisteens and parents via email, text and also posted on the website.  Be sure to keep your contact information up-to-date or these notifications may not reach you.

Jackets Donated to Children’s Hospital

Assisteens in Action
As members of the Assistance League of Flintridge Assisteens auxiliary, the teens meet monthly and work together on many projects.  They also staff the Bargain Box Thrift Shop on Saturdays.  This year, students will be required to work AT LEAST ONE Bargain Box shift on the 2nd Saturday of the month and AT LEAST ONE shift on any other Saturday when assistance is needed.  Of course, students may work more than the required number of days and often do.  Working in the Bargain Box is fun and provides great retail experience for any future jobs.  There will be sign up sheets at each meeting for these shifts and other volunteer opportunities as they occur.

In addition to conducting business and working on projects, Assisteens receive informative presentations such as this one on plastics and their effect on the environment that was presented by Assisteen, Melina Tsotras.  She studied this subject in connection with her Girl Scout Gold Award.  Also at this meeting was Assistance League of Flintridge member Rose Nielsen, who brought her therapy dog Goldie and shared their experiences helping hospitalized children.  The Assisteens were so inspired by Team Rose & Goldie that they voted to support the Amerman Family Foundation dog therapy program at Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles.  Assisteens purchased 137 embroidered, lightweight jackets that were delivered to the hospital for volunteers to wear during their therapy sessions.

Communication with Students & Parents
The Assisteens Coordinators regularly send information and schedules directly to students via email. Be sure to indicate the best email address for your student during the registration process and let us know promptly if any changes occur. For your convenience, the information sent to Assisteens will also be sent to parents and posted here.  Specific student information, like names of participants for an activity, are always redacted in the online version.
