Assisteens in Action
The 2018-2019 service year has gotten off to a great start for over sixty local teens.  As members of the Assistance League of Flintridge “Assisteens” auxiliary, the teens meet monthly and work together on many projects.  They also staff the Bargain Box Thrift Shop one Saturday each month.  Pictured at the Bargain Box in their red aprons and ready to greet customers at the cash registers are (left to right) Sophia Stephen, Sarah Pyne-Jaeger, Warren Lam, Kevin Oghalai, Ryan King and Thomas Oghalai.

The Assisteens’ recent meeting was led by their elected officers.  In addition to conducting business, an informative presentation on plastics and their effect on the environment was presented by Assisteen Melina Tsotras.  She has been studying this subject in connection with her Girl Scout Gold Award.  Also at the meeting was Assistance League of Flintridge member Rose Nielsen, who brought her therapy dog “Goldie” and shared their experiences helping hospitalized children.

“We have a wonderful group of Assisteens,” said Jeanette Viau,  Assistance League of Flintridge member and Assisteens Coordinator.  “They are very enthusiastic and strive to improve the community.”
